This Ain't Your Father's Brokerage…
Does this feel like your current broker’s attitude toward technology in real estate?
“…internet was sent by my staff at 10 o’clock…”
Ok, so Senator Steven’s example maybe a little extreme. After all, presumably you are reading this post off our blog, or [gasp!] you are reading this from your favorite RSS feed reader. One thing is for sure, real estate and technology go hand in hand when it comes to systems, efficiency and communication.
Once upon a time…
I had a real estate trainer who was a former Floyd Wickman trainer. His training and curriculum were excellent for belly to belly salesmanship within real estate and boots on the ground prospecting. Let’s face it, if you do any kind of prospecting consistently in real estate, it will produce results. The problem with his training, for my marketplace, was that I could not go “belly to belly” with future clients coming in from out of town…and that’s a huge chunk of the number of annual transactions.
The point is that I combined his sales training with “the new way” to do real estate. I could talk with folks about Ann Arbor real estate BEFORE they came to the marketplace. We established my little team as the resource for our out of town clients. In the process, we also chipped away at our competition’s “in-market” name advantage! ![]()
How do you do accomplish this kind of reach when your broker is still struggling to come up with a firm-wide policy on blogging, let alone social media?
Or how about being recruited by a broker that knows your tech acumen, touts their own firm’s tech savvy-ness yet has the audacity to show up sporting a “dumb” phone?
Or how about the impact of aligning yourself with a company or a broker that still views Social Media as a gimmick or a fad? Or worse yet, that isn’t even really aware of all the incredible transformation going on in our culture right now involving technology and Social Media?
After all, how can you deliver emails quickly when there are 10 movies in “the tubes” before your message?
